Velma Jackson Falcons (Camden, MS) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Leake Central Gators (Carthage, MS), 48-40 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Velma Jackson upgrades its record to 8-9 on the season. The Falcons travel to Scott Central (Forest, MS) to clash with the Rebels in a 2A Region 6 bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Rebels go into the bout with a record of 1-2. Scott Central lost 55-41 in their recent non-league bout against Louisville (Louisville, MS)

Next up, the Gators clash with the Morton Panthers (Morton, MS) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 30. Leake Central will attempt to upgrade on its 3-5 season record. The Panthers go into the bout with a 7-2 record after their 47-43 non-league win over Magee (Magee, MS).
