Alcorn Central Bears (Glen, MS) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting West Union Eagles (Myrtle, MS), 55-47 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Alcorn Central upgrades its record to 5-4 on the season. The Bears host Hatley (Amory, MS) to play the Tigers in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 10. The Tigers go into the bout with a record of 6-5.

Next up, the Eagles play the Tremont Eagles (Tremont, MS) in a 1A Region 2 challenge, on Tuesday, January 3. West Union will attempt to improve on its 10-4 season record. The Eagles come into the challenge with a 1-9 record after their 66-28 non-league loss to Walnut (Walnut, MS).
