In Wednesday's non-league match, the host Pelahatchie Chiefs basketball team scored a tight 49-46 triumph over the Loyd Star Hornets.

In their next game, the Chiefs meet the Pisgah Dragons (Sandhill, MS) in a 2A Region 6 match, on Tuesday, January 17. Pelahatchie will attempt to better on its 4-0 season record.

With the defeat, Loyd Star moves to 3-12 on the year. The Hornets travel to Amite County (Liberty, MS) to meet the Trojans in a 2A Region 7 match on Tuesday, January 10. The Trojans enter the match with a record of 0-4.
