Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes (Abingdon, IL) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Pittsfield Saukees (Pittsfield, IL), 42-34 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Abingdon/Avon upgrades its record to 7-7 on the campaign. The Tornadoes host Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] (Woodhull, IL) to play the Spartans in a Lincoln Trail bout on Wednesday, January 3. The Spartans come into the bout with a record of 6-10. Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] lost 48-36 in their recent non-league bout against Elmwood (Elmwood, IL)

Next up, the Saukees play the Illini West Chargers (Carthage, IL) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, December 30. Pittsfield will attempt to upgrade on its 10-2 season record. The Chargers come into the bout with a 8-6 record after their 36-35 non-league win over Augusta Southeastern (Augusta, IL).
