The Amherst Falcons (Amherst, WI) basketball knocked off the visiting Newman Fighting Cardinals (Wausau, WI), 61-46 in Thursday's non-league test.
The Falcons (5-5) will now prepare for their test against Wittenberg-Birnamwood (Wittenberg, WI). The Chargers go into the Central Wisconsin - East test with a 4-4 record. In their last test, Wittenberg-Birnamwood went down by St. Mary Catholic (Neenah, WI), 76-47, in a non-league test.
The Fighting Cardinals now own a 1-8 record. They play next when they host Phillips for a non-league test on Thursday, January 4. Newman will encounter a Loggers squad coming off a 54-48 non-league win over Flambeau (Tony, WI). The Loggers record now stands at 5-2.
