In Saturday's non-league contest, the host Burnet Bulldogs basketball team scored a good 58-44 triumph over the Hidalgo Pirates.
The Bulldogs (11-11) will now prepare for their contest against Jarrell (Jarrell, TX). The Cougars go into the 4A Region III District 24 contest with a 6-10 record. In their last contest, Jarrell was toppled by Alvarado (Alvarado, TX), 48-43, in a non-league contest.
In their next game, the Pirates confront the Macedonian Christian (Alamo, TX) in a non-league contest, on Friday, January 3. Hidalgo will attempt to better on its 16-7 season record. The go into the contest with a 13-7 record after their 58-42 non-league loss to Edinburg (Edinburg, TX).
