The Burrell Bucs basketball squad (Lower Burrell, PA), was nudged 48-45 in Saturday's non-league battle with the host Union Area Scotties (New Castle, PA)

With the victory, Union Area advances its record to 8-3 on the year. The Scotties host Shenango (New Castle, PA) to meet the Wildcats in a WPIAL 2A 4 battle on Friday, January 3. The Wildcats enter the battle with a record of 4-5. Shenango won 62-51 in their recent non-league battle against Eden Christian Academy (Pittsburgh, PA)

The Bucs now own a 4-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host North Catholic for a WPIAL 4A 1 battle on Friday, January 3. Burrell will meet a Trojans squad coming off a 75-34 non-league win over Hatboro-Horsham (Horsham, PA). The Trojans record now stands at 3-4.
