Texas High School Basketball - Melissa nips Mt. Pleasant

In Saturday's non-league contest, the host Melissa Cardinals basketball team scored a close 68-61 win over the Mt. Pleasant Tigers.

The Cardinals (10-9) will now prepare for their contest against Lovejoy (Lucas, TX). The Leopards come into the 5A Region II District 9 contest with a 15-5 record. In their last contest, Lovejoy edged Berkner (Richardson, TX), 70-57, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Tigers battle the Lufkin Panthers (Lufkin, TX) in a 5A Region II District 10 contest, on Tuesday, December 31. Mt. Pleasant will attempt to better on its 15-3 season record. The Panthers come into the contest with a 22-2 record after their 46-29 non-league win over Nederland (Nederland, TX).
