The Mankato East Cougars basketball squad (Mankato, MN), was crushed 71-36 in Saturday's non-league battle with the visiting Orono Spartans (Long Lake, MN)

With the victory, Orono advances its record to 11-1 on the year. The Spartans travel to Benilde-St. Margaret's (St. Louis Park, MN) to meet the Red Knights in a AAA Section 6 battle on Tuesday, January 7. The Red Knights enter the battle with a record of 5-4.

The Cougars now own a 1-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Owatonna for a non-league battle on Thursday, January 2. Mankato East will meet a Huskies squad coming off a 63-48 non-league win over Delano (Delano, MN). The Huskies record now stands at 6-4.
