The Monticello Mustangs basketball team scored 40 points and limited the visiting Nelson County Governors to 22 in the Mustangs non-league triumph on Saturday.

The Mustangs now possess a 2-6 record. They play next when they travel to Charlottesville for a Jefferson game on Tuesday, January 7. Monticello will confront a Black Knights team coming off a 42-32 non-league win over James Island (Charleston, SC). The Black Knights record now stands at 6-1.

With the loss, Nelson County falls to 0-7 on the campaign. The Governors travel to Rappahannock County (Washington, VA) to confront the in a non-league game on Saturday, January 4. The go into the game with a record of 6-0. Rappahannock County won 45-43 in their recent non-league game against Riverheads (Staunton, VA)
