Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers (Newtown Square, PA) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Bayard Rustin Golden Knights (West Chester, PA), 55-51 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Marple Newtown upgrades its record to 2-3 on the campaign. The Fightin' Tigers host Conestoga (Berwyn, PA) to play the Pioneers in a Central bout on Thursday, January 5. The Pioneers come into the bout with a record of 6-3. Conestoga won 71-66 in their recent league bout against Upper Darby (Drexel Hill, PA)

Next up, the Golden Knights play the Henderson Warriors (West Chester, PA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Bayard Rustin will attempt to upgrade on its 3-6 season record. The Warriors come into the bout with a 6-3 record after their 82-69 non-league loss to Father Judge (Philadelphia, PA).
