Burleson Elks (Burleson, TX) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Mabank Panthers (Mabank, TX), 55-45 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Burleson upgrades its record to 8-13 on the season. The Elks travel to Midlothian (Midlothian, TX) to clash with the Panthers in a 5A Region I District 8 bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 17-4. Midlothian lost 61-55 in their recent non-league bout against Wylie East (Wylie, TX)

Next up, the Panthers clash with the Brownsboro Bears (Brownsboro, TX) in a 4A Region II District 16 bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Mabank will attempt to upgrade on its 4-8 season record. The Bears go into the bout with a 16-4 record after their 51-40 non-league loss to Tyler (Tyler, TX).
