Damascus Hornets (Damascus, MD) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host River Hill Hawks (Clarksville, MD), 52-49 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Damascus upgrades its record to 7-0 on the season. The Hornets host Watkins Mill (Gaithersburg, MD) to clash with the Wolverines in a Montgomery 3A/2A bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Wolverines go into the bout with a record of 0-7. Watkins Mill lost 90-52 in their recent non-league bout against Oakland Mills (Columbia, MD)

Next up, the Hawks clash with the Oakland Mills Scorpions (Columbia, MD) in a Howard County bout, on Wednesday, January 4. River Hill will attempt to upgrade on its 3-4 season record. The Scorpions go into the bout with a 6-2 record after their 65-47 non-league win over Westminster (Westminster, MD).
