Douglass Indians (Douglass, TX) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Shelbyville Dragons (Shelbyville, TX), 73-59 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Douglass upgrades its record to 17-2 on the campaign. The Indians travel to Overton (Overton, TX) to play the Mustangs in a 2A Region III District 22 bout on Friday, December 30. The Mustangs come into the bout with a record of 7-6. Overton lost 40-27 in their recent non-league bout against New Diana (Diana, TX)

Next up, the Dragons play the Tenaha Tigers (Tenaha, TX) in a 2A Region III District 23 bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Shelbyville will attempt to upgrade on its 13-4 season record. The Tigers come into the bout with a 10-10 record after their 2-0 non-league win over Hemphill (Hemphill, TX).
