The Pleasant Plains Cardinals basketball team scored 73 points and held the host Effingham Flaming Hearts to 72 in the Cardinals non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Cardinals now sport a 8-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Pittsfield for a non-league contest on Tuesday, January 3. Pleasant Plains will meet a Saukees team coming off a 50-49 non-league loss to North Greene (White Hall, IL). The Saukees record now stands at 5-4.

The Flaming Hearts (5-10) will now prepare for their contest against Centennial (Champaign, IL). The Chargers enter the non-league contest with a 2-5 record. In their last contest, Centennial was nudged by MacArthur (Decatur, IL), 64-32, in a non-league contest.
