Smithsburg Leopards (Smithsburg, MD) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Mountain Ridge Miners (Frostburg, MD), 44-39 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Smithsburg upgrades its record to 4-2 on the season. The Leopards travel to South Hagerstown (Hagerstown, MD) to clash with the Rebels in a CMC bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Rebels go into the bout with a record of 3-5. South Hagerstown lost 77-62 in their recent non-league bout against Spring Mills (Martinsburg, WV)

Next up, the Miners clash with the Southern Rams (Oakland, MD) in a Western Maryland bout, on Wednesday, January 4. Mountain Ridge will attempt to upgrade on its 3-3 season record. The Rams go into the bout with a 0-3 record after their 88-43 non-league loss to Uniontown (Uniontown, PA).
