Sherman Bearcats (Sherman, TX) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Northwest Texans (Justin, TX), 62-59 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Sherman upgrades its record to 5-11 on the season. The Bearcats host Melissa (Melissa, TX) to play the Cardinals in a 5A Region II District 13 bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Cardinals go into the bout with a record of 12-10. Melissa lost 58-50 in their recent non-league bout against Coppell (Coppell, TX)

Next up, the Texans play the Azle Hornets (Azle, TX) in a 5A Region I District 5 bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Northwest will attempt to upgrade on its 9-12 season record. The Hornets go into the bout with a 12-10 record after their 68-55 non-league win over Everman (Everman, TX).
