The Colony Cougars (The Colony, TX) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Poteet Pirates (Mesquite, TX), 66-50 in a non-league bout.

With the win, The Colony upgrades its record to 15-7 on the season. The Cougars travel to Ryan (Denton, TX) to play the Raiders in a non-league bout on Friday, December 30. The Raiders go into the bout with a record of 16-4. Ryan won 38-26 in their recent non-league bout against Prosper (Prosper, TX)

Next up, the Pirates play the Spruce Timberwolves (Dallas, TX) in a 5A Region II District 12 bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Poteet will attempt to upgrade on its 8-6 season record. The Timberwolves go into the bout with a 3-6 record after their 40-37 league loss to Conrad (Dallas, TX).
