Athens Warriors (Athens, IL) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Greenfield/Northwestern Tigers (Greenfield, IL), 47-37 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Athens upgrades its record to 10-3 on the season. The Warriors travel to Delavan (Delavan, IL) to clash with the Panthers in a Tomahawk bout on Friday, January 5. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 8-7.

Next up, the Tigers clash with the West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Cougars (Winchester, IL) in a Western Illinois Valley bout, on Thursday, January 4. Greenfield/Northwestern will attempt to upgrade on its 6-5 season record.
