Canton Eagles (Canton, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Burleson Elks (Burleson, TX), 38-37 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Canton upgrades its record to 10-9 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Cumberland Academy (Tyler, TX) to play the Knights in a 4A Region II District 16 bout on Friday, January 5. The Knights come into the bout with a record of 3-12.

Next up, the Elks play the Cleburne Yellowjackets (Cleburne, TX) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 29. Burleson will attempt to upgrade on its 12-11 season record. The Yellowjackets come into the bout with a 2-14 record after their 54-48 league loss to Centennial (Burleson, TX).
