Hoover Vikings (North Canton, OH) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Chaney Cowboys (Youngstown, OH), 59-44 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Hoover upgrades its record to 5-3 on the season. The Vikings travel to Washington (Massillon, OH) to play the Tigers in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 2. The Tigers go into the bout with a record of 6-0. Washington won 102-85 in their recent non-league bout against Northwest (Canal Fulton, OH)

Next up, the Cowboys play the Academy for Urban Scholars Hawks (Youngstown, OH) in a non-league bout, on Friday, January 5. Chaney will attempt to upgrade on its 1-4 season record. The Hawks go into the bout with a 1-8 record after their 94-24 non-league loss to Minerva (Minerva, OH).
