Daviess County Panthers (Owensboro, KY) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Portland Panthers (Portland, TN), 49-44 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Daviess County upgrades its record to 9-3 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Ohio County (Hartford, KY) to play the Eagles in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 4. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 4-8. Ohio County lost 61-47 in their recent non-league bout against Butler (Louisville, KY)

Next up, the Panthers play the East Robertson Indians (Cross Plains, TN) in a non-league bout, on Friday, January 5. Portland will attempt to upgrade on its 8-8 season record. The Indians come into the bout with a 6-7 record after their 48-35 non-league win over Hendersonville (Hendersonville, TN).
