Emerson Mavericks (McKinney, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Poteet Pirates (Mesquite, TX), 77-55 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Emerson upgrades its record to 10-7 on the season. The Mavericks travel to Heritage (Frisco, TX) to clash with the Coyotes in a 5A Region II District 10 bout on Tuesday, January 2. The Coyotes go into the bout with a record of 10-7. Heritage won 73-54 in their recent non-league bout against Humble (Humble, TX)

Next up, the Pirates clash with the Spruce Timberwolves (Dallas, TX) in a 5A Region II District 12 bout, on Tuesday, January 2. Poteet will attempt to upgrade on its 9-6 season record. The Timberwolves go into the bout with a 0-9 record after their 53-31 non-league loss to Samuell (Dallas, TX).
