The South Jones Braves basketball team scored 56 points and held the host Laurel Golden Tornadoes to 54 in the Braves non-league triumph on Friday.

The Braves now sport a 8-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to North Pike for a 5A Region 3 contest on Friday, January 5. South Jones will battle a Jaguars team coming off a 66-64 non-league win over Leake County (Walnut Grove, MS). The Jaguars record now stands at 6-12.

The Golden Tornadoes (6-9) will now prepare for their contest against East Central (Moss Point, MS). The Hornets enter the 5A Region 4 contest with a 2-10 record.
