West Cabarrus Wolverines (Concord, NC) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Bessemer City Yellow Jackets (Bessemer City, NC), 46-41 in a non-league bout.

With the win, West Cabarrus upgrades its record to 6-5 on the season. The Wolverines travel to South Iredell (Statesville, NC) to play the Vikings in a 4A Greater Metro bout on Wednesday, January 3. The Vikings go into the bout with a record of 3-7. South Iredell won 52-40 in their recent non-league bout against Wilkes Central (Wilkesboro, NC)

Next up, the Yellow Jackets play the Thomas Jefferson Gryphons (Mooresboro, NC) in a 1A/2A Southern Piedmont bout, on Wednesday, January 3. Bessemer City will attempt to upgrade on its 3-9 season record. The Gryphons go into the bout with a 5-2 record after their 42-21 non-league win over The Master's Academy (Forest City, NC).
