Iredell Dragons (Iredell, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Evant Elks (Evant, TX), 54-29 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Iredell upgrades its record to 8-5 on the campaign. The Dragons travel to Walnut Springs (Walnut Springs, TX) to play the Hornets in a 1A Region III District 20 bout on Tuesday, January 2. The Hornets come into the bout with a record of 4-3. Walnut Springs won 32-30 in their recent non-league bout against Gholson (Waco, TX)

Next up, the Elks play the Zephyr Bulldogs (Zephyr, TX) in a 1A Region III District 18 bout, on Tuesday, January 2. Evant will attempt to upgrade on its 10-4 season record. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a 3-2 record after their 80-30 league win over Blanket (Blanket, TX).
