Northside Vikings (Roanoke, VA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Alleghany Cougars (Covington, VA), 63-60 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Northside upgrades its record to 8-1 on the season. The Vikings travel to Salem (Salem, VA) to play the Spartans in a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 3. The Spartans go into the bout with a record of 3-3.

Next up, the Cougars play the Carroll County Cavaliers (Hillsville, VA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 2. Alleghany will attempt to upgrade on its 8-1 season record. The Cavaliers go into the bout with a 1-3 record after their 48-41 non-league loss to Pulaski County (Dublin, VA).
