Hemphill Hornets (Hemphill, TX) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Gary Bobcats (Gary, TX), 45-39 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Hemphill upgrades its record to 3-1 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to West Sabine (Pineland, TX) to play the Tigers in a non-league bout on Tuesday, December 6. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 1-4. West Sabine lost 42-39 in their recent non-league bout against Broaddus (Broaddus, TX)

Next up, the Bobcats play the Martinsville Pirates (Martinsville, TX) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 6. Gary will attempt to upgrade on its 6-5 season record. The Pirates come into the bout with a 11-2 record after their 52-42 non-league win over Garrison (Garrison, TX).
