The crowd at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the YES Prep Northside Pride (Houston, TX) and the visiting Cristo Rey Jesuit Lions (Houston, TX), observed YES Prep Northside's basketball team knock off Cristo Rey Jesuit by a score of 55-42.
The Pride (1-0) will now prepare for their challenge against YES Prep Fifth Ward (Houston, TX). The come into the non-league challenge with a 0-1 record. In their last challenge, YES Prep Fifth Ward was knocked off by Danbury (Danbury, TX), 51-21, in a non-league challenge.
In their next game, the Lions encounter the Tekoa Academy Knight (Port Arthur, TX) in a Freelance challenge, on Friday, January 10. Cristo Rey Jesuit will attempt to improve on its 1-3 season record.
First Quarter
CRJ got out to a great start playing great defense and rebounding very well.
Second Quarter
Strong play on both sides in the 2nd quarter.
Third Quarter
CRJ gave up too many turnovers in the 3rd. Once one of their team captians, sr. forward Naanwat was sidelined due to foul trouble is when the trouble started.
Fourth Quarter
CRJ started to rally but ran out of time due to refs instituting a running clock from 3rd quarter. CRJ won 3 of the 4 quarters but gave up too much in the 3rd. The rally was led by freshman standout guard Marcus Roberson with a solid 23 points.
