Cypress Creek Cougars (Houston, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Bridgeland Bears (Cypress, TX), 81-78 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Cypress Creek upgrades its record to 16-5 on the campaign. The Cougars host Jersey Village (Houston, TX) to play the Falcons in a 6A Region III District 17 bout on Wednesday, January 4. The Falcons come into the bout with a record of 9-10. Jersey Village won 62-59 in their recent non-league bout against Cypress Lakes (Katy, TX)

Next up, the Bears play the Cypress Ranch Mustangs (Houston, TX) in a 6A Region II District 16 bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Bridgeland will attempt to upgrade on its 5-14 season record. The Mustangs come into the bout with a 13-6 record after their 59-42 non-league win over Dekaney (Houston, TX).
