San Gabriel Matadors (San Gabriel, CA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Channel Islands Raiders (Oxnard, CA), 67-59 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, San Gabriel upgrades its record to 9-6 on the campaign. The Matadors host Mark Keppel (Alhambra, CA) to play the Aztecs in a Almont bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Aztecs come into the bout with a record of 12-4. Mark Keppel lost 50-41 in their recent non-league bout against Eastside (Lancaster, CA)

Next up, the Raiders play the Nordhoff Rangers (Ojai, CA) in a Citrus Coast bout, on Wednesday, January 4. Channel Islands will attempt to upgrade on its 6-12 season record. The Rangers come into the bout with a 10-5 record after their 52-50 non-league win over Ventura (Ventura, CA).
