California High School Basketball - Liberty edges Mercer Island

The Liberty Patriots (Bakersfield, CA) basketball nipped the visiting Mercer Island Islanders (Mercer Island, WA), 54-51 in Friday's non-league test.

The Patriots (7-7) will now prepare for their test against Buchanan (Clovis, CA). The Bears go into the non-league test with a 8-5 record. In their last test, Buchanan was tipped by Hanford West (Hanford, CA), 63-62, in a non-league test.

The Islanders now own a 4-5 record. They play next when they travel to Lake Washington for a 3A KingCo test on Tuesday, January 3. Mercer Island will encounter a Kangaroos squad coming off a 62-51 non-league loss to Serra (Gardena, CA). The Kangaroos record now stands at 7-4.
