The Ben L. Smith Golden Eagles (Greensboro, NC) basketball nipped the visiting First Flight Nighthawks (Kill Devil Hills, NC), 71-65 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Golden Eagles (11-1) will now prepare for their test against Dudley (Greensboro, NC). The Panthers go into the 3A Mid-State test with a 4-5 record. In their last test, Dudley was tipped by Greensboro Day School (Greensboro, NC), 59-45, in a non-league test.
The Nighthawks now own a 3-7 record. They play next when they host Manteo for a 2A/3A Northeastern Coastal test on Friday, January 5. First Flight will encounter a Redskins squad coming off a 70-52 non-league win over Columbia (Columbia, NC). The Redskins record now stands at 5-2.
