Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Petrolia Pirates (Petrolia, TX) and the visiting Covington Owls (Covington, TX), saw Petrolia's basketball squad wallop Covington by a tally of 57-30.

With the victory, Petrolia improves its record to 11-10 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Saint Jo (Saint Jo, TX) to play the Panthers in a non-league challenge on Friday, January 5. The Panthers come into the challenge with a record of 1-18.

Next up, the Owls play the Meridian Yellowjackets (Meridian, TX) in a 1A Region III District 20 challenge, on Tuesday, January 2. Covington will attempt to improve on its 11-9 season record.
