Austin Maroons (Austin, TX) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host East View Patriots (Georgetown, TX), 51-41 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Austin upgrades its record to 10-16 on the season. The Maroons travel to Lake Travis (Austin, TX) to play the Cavaliers in a 6A Region IV District 26 bout on Tuesday, January 2. The Cavaliers go into the bout with a record of 18-7. Lake Travis won 53-45 in their recent non-league bout against Lake Creek (Montgomery, TX)

Next up, the Patriots play the Bastrop Bears (Bastrop, TX) in a 5A Region III District 23 bout, on Friday, January 5. East View will attempt to upgrade on its 7-18 season record. The Bears go into the bout with a 7-11 record after their 41-32 non-league loss to St. Stephen's Episcopal (Austin, TX).
