Rains Wildcats (Emory, TX) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Boyd Broncos (McKinney, TX), 53-38 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Rains upgrades its record to 21-2 on the season. The Wildcats host Grand Saline (Grand Saline, TX) to clash with the Indians in a 3A Region II District 12 bout on Tuesday, January 2. The Indians go into the bout with a record of 15-4.

Next up, the Broncos clash with the Little Elm Lobos (Little Elm, TX) in a 6A Region I District 5 bout, on Tuesday, January 2. Boyd will attempt to upgrade on its 12-7 season record. The Lobos go into the bout with a 20-5 record after their 55-46 non-league loss to Panther Creek (Frisco, TX).
