New Deal Lions (New Deal, TX) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Colorado Wolves (Colorado City, TX), 49-40 in a non-league bout.

With the win, New Deal upgrades its record to 14-9 on the season. The Lions travel to Ralls (Ralls, TX) to play the Jackrabbits in a 2A Region I District 4 bout on Tuesday, January 2. The Jackrabbits go into the bout with a record of 3-10. Ralls lost 73-24 in their recent non-league bout against Whitharral (Whitharral, TX)

Next up, the Wolves play the Highland Hornets (Roscoe, TX) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 2. Colorado will attempt to upgrade on its 8-11 season record. The Hornets go into the bout with a 4-10 record after their 44-23 non-league loss to Sands (Ackerly, TX).
