In Saturday's non-league match, the host Northern Guilford Nighthawks basketball team scored a decisive 67-19 triumph over the Topsail Pirates.

In their next game, the Nighthawks meet the Northwest Guilford Vikings (Greensboro, NC) in a 4A Metro match, on Friday, January 5. Northern Guilford will attempt to move on its 11-1 season record. The Vikings enter the match with a 9-3 record after their 62-59 non-league win over T.W. Andrews (High Point, NC).

With the defeat, Topsail moves to 7-5 on the year. The Pirates travel to West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC) to meet the Trojans in a 3A/4A Mideastern match on Friday, January 5. The Trojans enter the match with a record of 7-5. West Brunswick lost 45-30 in their recent non-league match against Southwestern Randolph (Asheboro, NC)
