In Monday's non-league contest, the visiting Port Isabel Tarpons basketball team scored a close 64-59 triumph over the Veterans Memorial Chargers.

The Tarpons (8-9) will now prepare for their contest against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo (San Juan, TX). The Bears go into the non-league contest with a 10-14 record. In their last contest, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo nipped Valley View (Pharr, TX), 59-49, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Chargers battle the La Feria Lions (La Feria, TX) in a non-league contest, on Friday, January 3. Veterans Memorial will attempt to better on its 9-14 season record. The Lions go into the contest with a 11-7 record after their 57-50 non-league loss to Hanna (Brownsville, TX).
