Somerset Spartans (Somerset, WI) followers were in high spirits Monday as they saw their basketball team nip the host Unity Eagles (Balsam Lake, WI), 60-57 in a non-league bout.

The Spartans now possess a 3-5 record. They play next when they travel to Cumberland for a non-league bout on Friday, January 3. Somerset will play a Beavers team coming off a 75-60 non-league win over St. Croix Central (Hammond, WI). The Beavers record now stands at 5-2.

With the loss, Unity falls to 3-3 on the campaign. The Eagles host Spring Valley (Spring Valley, WI) to play the Cardinals in a non-league bout on Friday, January 3. The Cardinals go into the bout with a record of 5-1. Spring Valley won 62-33 in their recent league bout against Mondovi (Mondovi, WI)
