In Monday's non-league test, the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes (Monroe, GA) basketball squad knocked off the visiting Mountain View Bears (Lawrenceville, GA), by a score of 44-26.

Next, the Purple Hurricanes encounter the Cherokee Bluff Bears (Flowery Branch, GA) in a AAA Region 8 test, on Friday, January 3. Monroe Area will attempt to improve on its 6-7 season record. The Bears come into the test with a 11-4 record after their 66-53 non-league win over Arabia Mountain (Lithonia, GA).

The Bears (1-15) will now prepare for their test against Mill Creek (Hoschton, GA). The Hawks come into the AAAAAA Region 8 test with a 10-3 record. In their last test, Mill Creek beat Shiloh (Snellville, GA), 47-31, in a non-league test.
