Spruce Mountain Phoenix (Jay, ME) supporters left the game happy Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad run past the host Monmouth Academy Mustangs (Monmouth, ME), 60-49 in a non-league match.

With the victory, Spruce Mountain advances its record to 7-0 on the year. The Phoenix travel to Medomak Valley (Waldoboro, ME) to face the Panthers in a B South match on Thursday, January 2. The Panthers enter the match with a record of 6-0. Medomak Valley won 68-52 in their recent non-league match against Mt. Ararat (Topsham, ME)

The Mustangs now own a 4-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Old Orchard Beach for a C South match on Friday, January 3. Monmouth Academy will face a Seagulls squad coming off a 54-46 league loss to Madison (Madison, ME). The Seagulls record now stands at 1-6.
