Mahanoy Area Golden Bears (Mahanoy City, PA) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Jim Thorpe Olympians (Jim Thorpe, PA), 62-17 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Mahanoy Area upgrades its record to 2-0 on the season. The Golden Bears host Our Lady of Lourdes Regional (Coal Township, PA) to play the Red Raiders in a non-league bout on Thursday, December 7. The Red Raiders go into the bout with a record of 1-1. Our Lady of Lourdes Regional lost 56-41 in their recent non-league bout against MMI Preparatory School (Freeland, PA)

Next up, the Olympians play the Panther Valley Panthers (Lansford, PA) in a Schuylkill County 1 bout, on Thursday, December 7. Jim Thorpe will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record. The Panthers go into the bout with a 1-1 record after their 75-49 non-league win over Weatherly (Weatherly, PA).
