The Friona Chieftans basketball team scored 47 points and limited the visiting Wellman-Union Wildcats to 46 in the Chieftans non-league triumph on Saturday.

The Chieftans now have a 3-2 record. They play next when they host Roosevelt for a 3A Region I District 2 game on Tuesday, December 9. Friona will confront a Eagles team coming off a 65-52 non-league loss to Bowie (Bowie, TX). The Eagles record now stands at 4-3.

With the loss, Wellman-Union drops to 4-7 on the year. The Wildcats host Southland (Southland, TX) to clash with the Eagles in a non-league outing on Tuesday, December 9. The Eagles enter the outing with a record of 0-4. Southland lost 72-13 in their recent non-league outing against Southcrest Christian (Lubbock, TX)
