In Friday's non-league contest, the visiting Mexia Black Cats basketball team scored a close 41-37 triumph over the Gateway College Preparatory Gators.

The Black Cats (5-4) will now prepare for their contest against Madisonville (Madisonville, TX). The Mustangs go into the non-league contest with a 4-0 record. In their last contest, Madisonville nipped New Waverly (New Waverly, TX), 68-39, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Gators face the Buffalo Bison (Buffalo, TX) in a non-league match, on Saturday, December 6. Gateway College Preparatory will attempt to upgrade on its 6-3 season record. The Bison enter the match with a 6-2 record after their 42-31 non-league loss to Gateway College Preparatory (Georgetown, TX).
