Smithfield Packers (Smithfield, VA) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Bruton Panthers (Williamsburg, VA), 52-34 in a league bout.

With the win, Smithfield upgrades its record to 1-1 on the season. The Packers travel to New Kent (New Kent, VA) to play the Trojans in a Bay Rivers bout on Friday, December 9. The Trojans go into the bout with a record of 3-1. New Kent won 64-59 in their recent league bout against York (Yorktown, VA)

Next up, the Panthers play the Lafayette Rams (Williamsburg, VA) in a Bay Rivers bout, on Thursday, December 8. Bruton will attempt to upgrade on its 0-3 season record. The Rams go into the bout with a 3-0 record after their 42-39 league win over Warhill (Williamsburg, VA).
