The Cushing Bearkats (Cushing, TX) basketball edged the host Westwood Panthers (Palestine, TX), 41-36 in Friday's non-league bout.

The Bearkats now possess a 5-5 record. They play next when they travel to New Summerfield for a 2A Region III District 22 bout on Tuesday, December 10. Cushing will play a Hornets team coming off a 50-2 non-league loss to Christian Heritage (Longview, TX). The Hornets record now stands at 0-4.

With the loss, Westwood falls to 2-9 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Teague (Teague, TX) to play the Lions in a 3A Region III District 20 bout on Tuesday, December 10. The Lions go into the bout with a record of 3-6. Teague won 27-14 in their recent non-league bout against Cooper (Abilene, TX)
