In Saturday's non-league contest, the visiting Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs basketball team scored a good 52-43 triumph over the Newton Railroaders.

The Monarchs (1-2) will now prepare for their contest against Hill City (Hill City, KS). The Ringnecks go into the Mid-Continent contest with a 0-1 record. In their last contest, Hill City was topped by Ellis (Ellis, KS), 42-24, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Railroaders confront the South Cougars (Salina, KS) in a non-league contest, on Tuesday, December 17. Newton will attempt to better on its 0-3 season record. The Cougars go into the contest with a 1-2 record after their 54-40 non-league loss to Salina Central (Salina, KS).
