Nixon-Smiley Mustangs (Nixon, TX) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Shiner Comanches (Shiner, TX), 38-36 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Nixon-Smiley upgrades its record to 7-1 on the season. The Mustangs travel to Sacred Heart (Hallettsville, TX) to clash with the Indians in a non-league bout on Thursday, December 8. The Indians go into the bout with a record of 2-2. Sacred Heart lost 70-63 in their recent league bout against San Juan Diego Catholic (Austin, TX)

Next up, the Comanches clash with the Bloomington Bobcats/Lady Cats (Bloomington, TX) in a 2A Region IV District 28 bout, on Friday, December 16. Shiner will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record.
