The Athens Hornets basketball team (Athens, TX), was overwhelmed 71-30 in Friday's non-league battle with the visiting University Trojans (Waco, TX)

The Trojans now possess a 12-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Mt. Pleasant for a non-league battle on Saturday, December 9. University will confront a Tigers team coming off a 51-23 non-league win over Tournament Opponent (, ). The Tigers record now stands at 10-2.

The Hornets (6-4) will now prepare for their battle against La Vega (Waco, TX). The Pirates come into the non-league battle with a 5-3 record. In their last battle, La Vega trounced Caldwell (Caldwell, TX), 69-49, in a non-league battle.
